Understanding the Day Trades Page

Learn how to review your trading day in one place — log notes and mood, get insights, replay trades, and break down your stats.

Written by Team

The Day tab on the Trades page breaks down your trading performance for each trading day, giving you a clear overview of your activity along with notes, stats, and trade-level detail.

Take Notes

  • Add a note for any day: Jot down key observations and lessons learned for a trading day. Each day in the list shows a + Add note button, or View note if one has already been added. You can also click Start my day to open a calendar, pick any date — including future days — and jump straight to that day to add your note.

View the Mini Calendar

The right sidebar features a mini calendar that visually represents your green (profit) and red (loss) days. Hover over a date to preview that day's P&L and trade count, or click it to jump straight to that day.

Expanding a Trading Day

Click the dropdown icon next to any trading day to expand its view. This reveals all trades opened and closed that day, sorted in chronological order.

Intraday Cumulative Net P&L Chart:

This chart tracks how your realized P&L changed throughout the day as you closed trades. For further details, check out this helpful article: Understanding the Daily Journal Intraday Cumulative Net P&L Graph.

💡 Pro Tip: You can expand this chart and hover over each point to see the corresponding trade.

Daily Stats:

Review your stats for the trading day, including:

  • Net P&L: Total realized P&L for the day, including commissions and fees

  • Total Trades: Number of trades taken during the day

  • Win Rate: The number of winning trades in a certain period, expressed as a percentage

  • Winners / Losers: Number of winning and losing trades

  • Volume: Total quantity traded (e.g., bought two contracts and sold two contracts = a volume of 4)

  • Profit Factor: Gross profit divided by gross loss (including commissions) for the day

  • Commissions: The fee paid to the broker to execute trades

  • Gross P&L: Total realized profit or loss for the day, excluding commissions

Trade Details:

  • Within the expanded view, you'll see detailed information for each trade — by default: Open time, Ticker, Side, Instrument, Net P&L, Net ROI, Realized R-Multiple, Strategy, and Tags.

💡 Pro Tip: For example, add a column for tags you’ve applied to your trades or specific setup tags.

  • Customize your columns: Click the columns icon at the top of the Trades page to open Select columns. Search for a column, use Select all to toggle every column on or off, or click Select Default to reset to the default set, then click Update to save your view.

Quick Actions

Each day in the list also has a row of quick-action icons you can use without expanding the day: Mood check-in, Zella Insights, Review with Zella AI, Replay, and Add note/View note.

Log How You Feel About the Day

  • Shown as a + on a day's row if you haven't logged a mood for that day yet, or as the mood emoji itself once you have. Only appears on a day you've logged via Start my day.

  • Click it to open How do you feel about this trading day?, pick one of five mood options (from very negative to very positive), optionally add a note on what made the day feel that way, and click Save.

Review with Zella AI

Opens the Trade Review stage of Start my day for that date — stats, your trades, a Running P&L chart, a trading-rules checklist, notes, and optional AI add-ons.

Replay

Jumps into Trade Replay for that day, so you can step back through your trades.

Zella Insights:

Click the Zella Insights icon to open Daily Zella Insights, a popup that summarizes the day including the date, Net P&L, total trades, and any detected insights.

For a full breakdown, see: Zella Insights.

Utilizing the Day tab helps you analyze trading performance, spot patterns, and make informed decisions to improve future trades.
