How to Connect VS Code to TradeZella (MCP)

Connect VS Code to TradeZella with the TradeZella MCP server and ask about your trading while you work. Quick setup, no keys to copy.

You can connect VS Code to your TradeZella account and ask it about your trading in plain words. Here’s how to set it up.

How do I connect VS Code?

  • In VS Code, press Cmd + Shift + P (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + P (Windows), type MCP: Open User Configuration, and select it.

  • Add this to the file that opens:

{
"servers": {
"tradezella": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.tradezella.com/mcp"
}
}
}

‼️ Note: If the file already has other MCP servers, don’t paste the whole block. Add only the "tradezella" part inside your existing "servers" section.

  • Save the file.

  • In the same file, click Start above tradezella.

  • If VS Code asks for permission to sign in, click Allow.

  • A TradeZella page will open in your browser (sign in if asked). Choose Read only (selected by default) or Read & write, then click Allow.

💡 Note: Read only lets VS Code see and analyze your trading data, but it can’t change anything. Read & write also lets it add or update things in your account, like your notes, tags, and strategies. VS Code can’t add, edit, or delete your trades with either option.

Why the user configuration? Adding TradeZella there makes it available in every folder you open in VS Code, so you only set it up once. If you add it to a single folder’s .vscode/mcp.json file instead, it only works in that folder, and you’d have to add it again for each folder where you want it.

Your TradeZella account is now connected. You can ask VS Code about your trading, such as your win rate, your recent trades, or your risk-to-reward.
